John Tourtellotte is an actor, fight director, and stage combat instructor originally from Birmingham, AL. John originally studied stage combat privately with Gregory Hoffman in the fall of 2011, and since then has served as Gregory’s teaching assistant at various workshops across the country, including the 19th annual Winter Workshop in New Orleans, where John received his Associate Instructor’s credentials.
Since receiving his BFA in Acting from Auburn University in 2011, John has worked all over the country at theatres including the Berkshire Theatre Festival, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and the Denver Center Theatre Company, as well as various theaters in Los Angeles and an Off-Off Broadway production in New York. Favorite acting roles include: Mercutio, Romeo, Picasso, Orlando and Laertes, among others. Fight Director credits include: Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Dark Play or Stories for Boys, among others. In 2014 John and his wife Jessie Holder relocated to Knoxville to found their own classical repertory theatre company, the Knoxville Classical Theatre.
