Matthew McKay is an Adjunct Professor of Theater, as well as a Wind Safety Instructor, at the Grand Rapids Community College. He received his MFA in Theatre Pedagogy with a focus in Movement from the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. (VCU) Mathew served as fight choreographer for many of VCU’s main stage productions including: Psycho Beach Party and The Who’s Tommy.

Matt had his first experience with stage combat during his undergraduate education at Wabash College, where he played the role of the son in an adaptation of Pierre Corneille’s The Illusion. After that experience Matt was awarded a grant from Wabash to pursue independent research outside the college. He chose to train in the art of theatrical combat. His great love for teaching and his passion for telling believable stories, including violent ones, on stage has led Matt to where he is today.
